- The Professional Practitioner Hypnotherapy Course (next course commences Saturday April 24th 2010)
The Professional Practitioner Hypnotherapy Training was devised and written by the Principal of the Essex Institute, Terence Watts, and is based on his many thousands of hours of successful work with hypnosis, hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis. He still conducts much of the training personally. Among many other qualifications, Terence holds the prestigious 'MCGI' (Member of the City and Guilds Institute) - the only member of the psychology professions world-wide to do so. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
The first part of the Professional Practitioner course allows you to gain your primary Certification, with the full Diploma after you have successfully completed the final assessment. You will also be eligible for entry on to the Public National Register of Hypnotherapists.
The course includes everything in our Foundation Certification and Smoking Cessation Specialist courses. It is therefore already a complete 'hypnoeducation' in itself but also has an advanced study option so that you can further enhance your skills if you wish, finally attaining qualification as a Psychotherapist

Course 1
The Professional Practitioner Hypnotherapy Course UK
This is the course to study if you want to go into practice, either full time or part time, as an effective Professional clinical hypnotherapist. It is possible to study just the first year course to become a competent hypnotherapist or you can take the two-year advanced course which includes psychotherapy training.

The first year course is of approximately 600 hours duration, including 150 hours of classroom study, and leads to a full Diploma qualification (DHP) with the opportunity for further certification from our accrediting bodies:
- The Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy
- The National Council of Psychotherapists
- The Society of Stress Managers

You will also be eligible for registration with the British National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists and will receive full membership after two years, provided you attend 15 hours of CPD (Continuing Professional Development - see our CPD seminars) Annually. This particular register only allows membership by those who have completed a study course of above-average quality.

Course 2
The Foundation Certification Course
The Foundation Certification Course is ideal for healthcare practitioners to learn the art of hypnosis and hypnotherapy as an adjunct to their existing skills. Of approximately 70 hours duration, it is also the perfect introductory course for those who do not need to learn all the 'ins and outs' of professional practice. The Foundation Certification course is designed especially for home study.
Course 3
Smoking Cessation Specialist Course
As the name suggests, this is a specialist hypnotherapy course dedicated to the quit smoking session. Even if you have never conducted a session of hypnosis before, you will learn all that you need to know to become an expert in the field.
You will learn how to take your client safely into hypnosis, how to get them out again, and all necessary safeguards. The course includes the award-winning 'Easy Quit Smoking Programme' from Hypnosense.
When you have completed the course, you will receive professional certification as a smoking cessation specialist.
