The Essex Institute is registered with the United Kingdom Register of Learning Providers (No.10008779) and is dedicated to providing the very best of personal hypnotherapy and psychotherapy tuition for every student. We are one of the few schools to have our own premises and are therefore always available should you need to contact us at any time.
The Professional Practitioner Course
If you want to gain a Professional qualification as a hypnotherapist, we can offer you first rate training to practitioner level and beyond via our Professional Practitioner Hypnotherapy Training. This course was devised and written by the Principal of the Essex Institute, Terence Watts, and is based on his many thousands of hours of successful work with hypnosis, hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis. Terence has written many books and manuals on the subject and has lectured at home and overseas, including the USA and Asia. He still personally conducts much of the training at the Essex Institute.
This is the course to study if you want to go into practice, either full time or part time, as an effective Professional clinical hypnotherapist. If you wish, you can comtinue your studies with the advanced course which includes psychotherapy training.
The first year course leads to a full Diploma qualification (DHP) with the opportunity to become a member of the following associations:
You will also be eligible for registration with the British National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists (www.nrah.co.uk) and will receive full membership after two years, provided you attend 15 hours of CPD (Continuing Professional Development - see our CPD seminars) Annually. This particular register only allows membership by those who have completed a study course of above-average quality.

The Foundation Certification Course
The Foundation Certification Course is ideal for healthcare practitioners to learn the art of hypnosis and hypnotherapy as an adjunct to their existing skills. Of approximately 70 hours duration, it is also the perfect introductory course for those who do not need to learn all the 'ins and outs' of professional practice. Smoking Cessation Specialist Course
As the name suggests, this is a specialist hypnotherapy course dedicated to the quit smoking session. Even if you have never conducted a session of hypnosis before, you will soon acquire all that you need to know to become an expert in the field. You will learn how to take your client safely into hypnosis, how to get them out again, and all necessary safeguards. The course includes the award-winning 'Easy Quit Smoking Programme' from Hypnosense. When you have completed the course, you will receive professional certification as a smoking cessation specialist.
