October and November, 2012: Lynda Hudson
Lynda Hudson is a Specialist Children's Hypnotherapist as well as an accomplished author and speaker. In two very special seminars at the Essex Institute Lynda will cover important areas when Working with Children.
October 8th 2012: Working with Children (part 1) Attendance fee: £90.00
In the first of these two seminars Lynda will highlight a range of challenging issues which are commonly presented in the children's therapy room. She will offer some options to support children in overcoming some of these.
Anxiety is becoming more and more prevalent in Children today. It?s sad but true Lynda sees more and more children who suffer from anxiety-based conditions. Seminar One will look at some of the causes and unintentional maintenance of general anxiety and possible strategies for treatment.
Separation anxiety in young people shows itself in different ways and can be mildly inconveniencing or so severe that it negatively impacts on the life of the whole family. Seminar One will look at possible causes and also unintentional maintenance of separation anxiety, and then offer suggestions for treatment.
Vocal and Motor Tics are common in children and fairly frequently present in Lynda's consulting room. She will look at which ones are likely to be more easily receptive to treatment and why. Ideas and strategies for treatment will be offered.
During the day there will be a mix of lecture, examples of case history, and group discussion with time for your questions. There will be student notes with background material and relevant scripts.
November 12th 2012: Working with Children - (part 2) Attendance fee: £90.00
Although very much linked with Working with Children - Seminar One, this second seminar can be attended on its own too.
Lynda will be addressing in-depth the challenges children have faced when walking into her consulting room. Seminar Two will be looking at:
Obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive actions are some of the fairly common and one of the most distressing presenting conditions that Lynda is faced with in her busy children?s consulting room. Children do not always display all the characteristics to fulfil the criteria for a diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder according to DSM IV but the issues can cause major disruption to not only their lives but also their parents? and siblings? lives too.
In this seminar, Lynda will cover some of the more common issues including Trichotillomania, and consider some different approaches and scripts to help deal with them.
A whole range of suggestions will be offered in ways to help with children who find it hard to focus and concentrate, particularly with regard to classroom learning and with homework. As a former teacher Lynda has always had an interest in these particular aspects of learning. And now she will share it with you.
